When I started on this maddening self-publishing journey, I had thought that the previous way I was writing wasn’t as efficient or motivating as writing with groups or a few local writer friends.
What I found out was that it’s a lot harder to write, at least for me, without an audience, or at least some kind of feedback.
To that end, I’m going back to my roots, but doing them a little different this time.
Originally, I started on Tapas because I wanted to have control of when and how often I wrote, and I wasn’t sure what the hell I was doing. Now with four years, and then some, of writing and publishing to my name, and the madrid of changes Patreon has in place to make managing their platform easier. It’s convinced me to return to serializing my books first, then publishing via Patreon, then going wide.
A lot of indie and hybrid authors are already doing this, so it’s not a new pattern by any means. So, I’ll be starting a Patreon TODAY. You can sign up for whatever pledge you like to get full access, and after pledging at any level for two months, I’m making my backlog available to download.
Backlog will consist of all my currently published books in ebook format, including the short stories.
Now, what I can promise is at least four chapters a month on any number of projects I have in flight.
What else I publish is entirely up to my subscribers. If I can get to - lets say - 25 subscribers by January, I’ll make sure to post at least one commissioned art piece every three months (depending on artist’s schedules). I’ll even let everyone vote as to what it should be. This wouldn’t include cover teases or my own graphics.
As the platform grows, I can probably do more elabrate things, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.
My newsletter will still happen. I’ll still have a website. My socials will be active for as long as those platforms stick around. (Though I’m not checking the bird app that much any more. Sorry.)
I’ll also drop some free things along the way. As a matter of fact, there are some free chapters up now for folks that want to follow me but can’t subscribe right now.
So, go check it out! I appreciate you all following me so far! You’ve been great!
I hope you’re ready for some smut because I have a lot planned for 2025!
