I’ve been meaning to talk about this for a while, so I wrote up a blog! In my self-pub journey I have learned a lot. One of these things was figuring out what the hell to title something for publication. It might have helped if I had figured this out when I was working with web serials, but that’s a whole other industry in publishing and has its own rules depending on the platform. It might not have helped, but it couldn’t have hurt.
In the indie world of wearing many hats at once, I set out to learn about SEO (search engine optimization) and how I could do a better job of it when I create titles for my books.
As I talk about in the blog and the vlog with Ubiquitous Tavern, titles are probably the most important thing you need to come up with to market your book. It’s the first thing readers encounter, and it has to stand out from every other title it’s next to on the shelves.
Having said all that, you might have noticed I’ve been updating the titles of my books.
The Saint George Chronicles have been updated, and I finally feel like I’ve figured out what the titles should be for that five book series.
The next one that I’ve struggled with was the Vampire Accord Series. The title for the first book was not unique, and in fact was the name of a popular Kevin J. Anderson book. If I had done a search before I gave it a title, I might have been prompted to be more creative. Live and Learn.
With that I’d like to introduce the new title, with the same cover:
It has the same story inside, but it now has a title that is much more descriptive of the book and more eye-catching than the previous title. If you haven’t picked up this vampire intrigue, with bisexual polyamory and a side order of second chance romance, and a strong female POV. Here’s your chance to give it a try. As part of the Mythical Desires Universe, this series has loose tie-ins with the other series as well.
There will be three books in this vampire series. The second one is done and in need of some rewrites and the third one is outlined. It’s the writer’s problem of having more ideas that you have time to write, unless that’s all you do (I’m not there yet. Might be a few more years, or ten).
